Spark: An Infinite Tale

WORDS + VISUALS BY EMILY ZHENG / @CRINGING_

I have always felt too much for the wrong things
my mother told me that one day
I'd have to learn to hold my tongue
to keep my words from spinning out of control
to stop feeling and start accepting

yet here I am
unruly and easily bored and loud
I blur in and out of existence

constantly moving and refusing to sit still
for once in my life
I just want to scream songs on the road
I want to dance by myself
I want to wander but with purpose
I want vulnerability
I want to remember that I am not alone
I am not a hazy memory filtered through your eyes
yes, I talk too much and ask too many questions
no, I will not stop

when you reach out and get swallowed by flames
know that it is the fire's fault
for forgetting all you need is gentle warmth
you are never too young for dreaming with excitement

you are too old for people who don't understand
your worth?

important
your voice?

powerful
your flaws?

merely petty obstacles
your love?

infinite

there will be days
where bitter regret burns your heart
lungs devoid of the sweet air that brings you
life is
disappointing
thrilling
imperfect
heart-breaking
overwhelming

you are
intelligent
capable
interesting
worth the wait
a spark that ignites with every breath
so take that gulp of life
