Many have dreamt of living the model life. Is it hard? How much time does it take out of our everyday lives? We decided to ask the beautiful and insightful teenage model and all-around cool-cat, Diana Silvers. An LA native who first broke out through her work for Brandy Melville, and is becoming many fashion and photographers' muses, the kid's going places.
Outside of her modeling stratosphere, Diana is a lover of people, kids, and love all around. An IMG model with thousands upon thousands of followers on Instagram and killer cheekbones, Diana will be running the modeling business before we know it. Here's what the rock-a-babe has to tell Citizens in her exclusive WRITTEN CITIZEN feature:

WRITTEN CITIZEN: Thank you for sitting down with us here at WRITTEN CITIZEN, Diana! Besides modeling, what are some of your favourite things to do?

DIANA SILVERS: No problem! I play tennis and the cello, and I act. I also sing and write poetry and music. I've started teaching myself guitar and piano as well.

WC: How did you get involved with modeling for Brandy Melville?

DS: I was walking in the store when they asked me if I was looking for a job. I said sure, and on the first day, they had me doing project research and development. By the third day, I was shooting for Instagram as well.

WC: Who are your fashion and beauty icons?

DS: Alexa Chung has amazing style. I really look up to Kate Moss as a model and Natalia Vodianova. I love Cara Delevingne and Georgia May Jagger, as well ― both fashion and model icons.

WC: If you could work with any certain photographer or model, who would it be?

DS: I really want to work with Cara and Natasha Poly. And, I would like to shoot with Terry Richardson, Bruce Weber, and Patrick Demarchelier.

WC: What would you say your style is like? What is your favourite trend at the moment?

DS: Hmm, my style ranges from 60's flower-power hippie to 90's grunge and 'Clueless' preppy. I am obsessed with Vans Old School Lowtops and the Mary Janes by Dr. Marten. I wear them everywhere with everything. I'm so glad the plaid skirt is back in fashion.

WC: If we followed you around all day, what would it be like? What are the things you'd be doing and places you'd be going?

DS: Well, if it was on a weekday, then you would have to come to school with me (laughs). During the school year, I go to school at 7 AM and get home at 5:30 PM. Thank you, tennis practice. When I don't have school, I'll go on castings and try to work a job or shoot for Brandy, and I'll play tennis.

WC: How do you fit modeling and your everyday life all on your schedule? Does it get hard?

DS: It is incredibly difficult trying to balance everything. I'm one of those people who try to do everything all the time. I participate in so many extracurriculars and I'm committed to a lot of different things. It gets stressful, but somehow, I manage.

WC: Who are your male and female celebrity crushes?

DS: Male crushes ― definitely Mick Jagger or Harry Styles. Girl crush would have to be Angelina Jolie or Julia Roberts. They're both so gorgeous and incredibly talented.

WC: Are you in any sort of relationship about which you'd be willing to brag to us?

DS: (Laughs.) Not right now, no. I like someone, but I don't see anything happening with that anytime soon.

WC: What are the pros and cons about your hometown of LA?

D: Ah, LA. It's nice being so close to the beach and in the center of everything, you know? I'm incredibly blessed and privileged to be able to pursue my dreams without having to move or anything. I could do without the smog and heat all the time, though ― and some of the people are a bit self-righteous and fake.

WC: Do you see yourself getting super far in the modeling career? What kind of photo shoots do you hope to accomplish someday?

DS: I don't like to think of it that way. I just do what I do and wherever it takes me, that's where I'll be. Maybe I'll end up on Vogue, or maybe my look will get old ― though Vogue would be pretty amazing.

WC: Do you have to watch your diet being a model?

DS: I mean, yeah, I'm supposed to, and I'm trying to be better about that lately, but for the most part, I kind of just eat what I want and exercise.

WC: If you could be famous for anything else, what would it be and why?

DS: I don't want to pursue something because it will bring me fame and fortune. If doing what I love, whether it be modeling or acting, bring fame or fortune, then hey ― that's cool. But, if it doesn't, then that's cool too. I just want to be happy doing what I love.

WC: What are your current favorite songs and artists?

DS: The Beatles are my favorite band of all time, without a doubt. I love Coldplay, the Arctic Monkeys, The Rolling Stones, and The Head and The Heart. Ed Sheeran's new album is nice too. I'm also quite big on the Avett Brothers, Mumford & Sons, John Mayer, Neutral Milk Hotel ― which I'm seeing in a week ― and Vampire Weekend. My favorite song ever is Thirteen by Big Star.

WC: How can you take your life to the next level?

DS: Just doing what I have to do: auditions, castings, tennis, music... always doing them to the best of my ability. I think the best way to get what you want is to put in what you want to get out.
